Nightly Visit From Little Froggy

This cute little Froggy appears on my back steps every night. I've been
leaving a container of water out there, and he loves to jump in
and take a refreshing dip. So cute!

Scott Farm in October

What a gorgeous day spent at the Scott Farm in Brattleboro, VT tasting samples of heirloom apples & listening to the history, folklore & interesting/amusing facts about each type of apple.  The landscape is breathtaking-- just a bit too early for the full color of foliage, but beautiful nonetheless.  I shared this experience with my friend, Shiva.

Mocha

Mocha is my new friend. I noticed that her owner, who lives nearby, always neglected this pup & never acknowledged her. She was either kept in a crate indoors or tied up to a chain outdoors. She was never given any exercise or social contact with other dogs. I finally got up enough nerve to knock on his door & ask if I could take Mocha for a walk. To my ultimate surprise, he said yes. I was elated!! Every outing with Mocha became more extended & more fun. She has learned so much--how to swim, retrieve sticks, walk on a leash, ride in a car, run & play with my other 2 dogs, sit, lay down & is now learning how to stay. She is a sweetheart!

Mocha is part pittbull & rotweiller. When I mention this to people, they wince. She is one of the most affectionate & friendly dogs I have met. I've done a lot of reading about pitt bulls & have learned that their natural disposition is friendly, loyal, good with kids, gentle, always wanting to please & very intelligent. It is a far cry from the unfortunate reputation they have been wrongly associated with.

If you ever consider getting a dog, PLEASE adopt one from a shelter or rescue. There are thousands of dogs that are put down because of overcrowded shelters or other numerous reasons.

Pretty little lost girl... She is now mine!

This pretty female Shepard wandered along my road today. Where did she come from? She is very friendly & sweet, so I know she must have a home. She's in my home tonight with my other 2 dogs, so that's a good start. I still need to find out if she'll be ok with my 4 cats. I've had 4 German Shepards at various times in my life, & I loved them all. They are such intelligent, beautiful, loyal, fun companions. I would keep her in a heartbeat if I didn't already have 2 big dogs. I do hope we find her home & reunite her with her owners...

Update: Reunited with owner the day after I found her. It was fun having her if only for a short time!

Update, Update: The owners asked me if I would take her, & I said yes!
