Another Vermont Snow Storm

Even Deeg, my teddy bear, chow mix,
doesn't know what to make of this new deep passage
onto the porch...

Winter Lights

There is something cozy about winter even though it's one of the toughest seasons to get through--lots & lots of maintenance, expenses... the days are short, the evenings are dark, the birds need food, the dogs need walking, the roof needs shoveling, the chimney needs cleaning, BUT... the beauty is indescribable, the peacefulness is exquisite, the moon-lit walks are breathtaking, the air is crisp and fresh, and the warmth from the wood stove is so cozy and inviting. Winter is hibernation at its best!

Best Friends

If you have grown up with pets all your life, you probably can't imagine ever living without them. They become part of our family, and the unique bond we share with our pets dramatically enriches our lives--both our emotional well-being and our physical health. It is a scientific fact that pets can help to reduce stress, relieve loneliness and depression, prevent heart disease, and lower health-care costs.

Dogs are a major factor in initiating conversations with passersby. Pets promote social interaction and increase morale and optimism. They encourage playfulness, exercise, and laughter. Pets satisfy the need for touch and to be touched, and give nonjudgmental warmth and affection.

If you are a very serious, driven person, playing with your dog or cat can be a great source of relaxation and stress relief.

Children also gain a sense of empathy and responsibility helping to care for a pet.

The bond with a pet helps you maintain a sense of purpose in life. My dogs get me out into the world on a daily basis, encourage me to exercise, renew my spirit and energy and give me a whole new way of experiencing nature at its best...

Views from the top of Mt. Snow

These photos were taken at the end of the day around 4:30 p.m...
just barely enough light to capture the beauty of the area at dusk.
